On the decks and in the studio, she combines the tunefulness of classic pop songs with the thump of underground house of her hometown.<\/p>\n<p>Colette released her first single in 1995 on Shroom Network in Chicago. Since then she\u2019s had releases on OM, Nordic Trax, Classic, Moody, Strictly Rhythm, Brique Rouge and her own imprint Candy Talk. A pioneer in combining live vocals with djing, Colette\u2019s sound still continues to evolve. \u201cI grew up listening to pop in the \u201880s, and as I got older, I was really deep into the \u201890s house scene,\u201d says Colette when talking about the panoramic sounds found on her third studio full-length, When the Music\u2019s Loud (Candy Talk Records). \u201cFor me, these two elements are always sort of married.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Colette&#8217;s released four albums since 2005: HYPNOTIZED (2005), PUSH (2007), WHEN THE MUSIC&#8217;S LOUD (2013) and RETROSPECTIVE (2017). &#8220;Hypnotized&#8221; was the most downloaded House dance album on iTunes (June 2005) and Billboard named &#8220;When The Music&#8217;s Loud&#8221; one of the top 20 albums of 2013. Thump\/VICE followed in 2015 and named &#8220;When The Music&#8217;s Loud&#8221; one of the 99 greatest dance albums of all time. <\/p>\n<p>Retrospective is a collection of 20 remixes of Colette\u2019s work from 2000 to 2017. Their committed vision of undiluted musical appreciation, interactive communication, improvisation and basic integrity has brought greater attention to all the city\u2019s great djs including the genre busting DJ Heather. Widely regarded as one of the premier selectors in the nation, this Chicagoan demonstrates her skills and sharp deck acumen for the massives throughout the Windy City and the world at large with verve and undeniable talent.<\/p>\n<p>DJ Heather received rave reviews for her installment to the much heralded Fabric CD series, for the club of the same name. \u201cWith [Fabric] 21 I had a concept in mind; most of the material had to have been played at the club to give it an honest feel.\u201d Judging by critics and house enthusiasts she has done just that. \u201cAt the end of the day to make a room full of people happy is difficult to do. You become part mind reader , guru, sensei, educator, entertainer and babysitter all at once. All the experiences I have had, made who I am today. As a person and dj. I love what I do.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>DJ Heather toured extensively with Colette in support of their House of OM double disc release and has released subsequent projects with Om Records including Summer Sessions 2 mixed by Om family members DJ Heather and Onionz. The release followed the success of the first volume of the series mixed by Groove Junkies, Chuck Love and DJ Fluid. In 2008 she joined fellow OM label artists &#8211; Colette, Fred Everything and Andy Caldwell &#8211; on the House of OM tour. <\/p>\n<p>With over 20 years of experience behind her Dj Heather has grown to become one of the Windy City\u2019s main Dj exports.
