Some artists are content earning the label of “overnight sensation,” while others patiently rely on hard work, dedication, and perseverance to earn the title of “everlasting sensation.” The latter is unquestionably the case for enigmatic Toronto native producer/DJ, Carlo Lio.
Originally known for leading the pack of prodigiously talented Toronto producers, Carlo has utilized his trademark cosmic house and techno sound to cement his status among today’s prodigiously talented world-renowned producers.
For proof, look no further than his remix of the ‘Diablo’ track on Cocoon Recordings. One of the greatest rewards an artist can receive is to be recognized by his musical heroes, and an even greater honor occurs when those heroes ask you to remix for them. Such was the case for Carlo when Dubfire and Oliver Huntemann approached him to remix ‘Diablo’. Without hesitation, Carlo accepted this project and the resulting track not only topped the charts, but it manifested Carlo’s personal dreams in a single shot. Ever since, Carlo’s discography has exploded, with his music catching the eyes and ears of some of the biggest labels in the market – SCI+TEC, Bedrock Records, MOOD, Desolat, Suara, Intec Digital, and Mindshake Records just to name a few. And in the coming months, Lio will be releasing remixes and collaboration projects for Mathew Dear (aka Audion), DJ Sneak, Paul Ritch, Carl Cox, and Nicole Moudaber.
As talented as Carlo is in the studio, his deep pulsing tech-house and shaggy techno beats are even more powerful with captivating dancers in clubs and festivals around the globe.
With home bases in both Toronto and Barcelona, Lio effortlessly maintains the life of a superstar DJ, continuously roaming the planet for new dance floors to conquer. This year alone has Carlo billed on some of the world’s biggest events, including BPM Festival (Mexico), Digital Dreams (Canada), Audiogate (Germany), Balaton Sound (Hungary), Barrakud (Croatia), Les Plages Electroniques (France) and Music On (Ibiza).
Having no intentions of slowing down from this pace anytime soon, rest assured Carlo Lio is at the top of his game, routed straight into the international limelight with a lifetime of accolades ahead.
CALEB CALLOWAY
Rooted from the tropical sounds of his native country Puerto Rico and the melting pot of sound he encountered in Chicago, Texas, and New York there is no other way to describe Caleb Calloway’s music but as diverse. From his production to his DJ sets Calloway has been
able to give the crowd exactly what they want while keeping his deeply engrained musical influences present. Coming from a musical family with an uncle who has toured with every major latin artist you can think of music flows through his blood and has always been in his destiny.
Captivated by the house and techno scene in NYC after moving to study audio engineering Calloway began DJing and Producing electronic music slowly moving his focus away from Hip Hop and fully dedicating his time to the underground sound. After graduating Calloway decided to move to back to Puerto Rico and spend all of his time honing his craft. He quickly gained notoriety in the underground scene sharing the stage with the likes of Damian Lazarus, Art Department, The Martinez Brothers, Green Velvet ,tINI, and Loco Dice. Also playing at heralded festivals like The Electric Daisy Carnival, BPM Festival, and TDA Festival in Panama.
After having opened up for Loco Dice, Calloway sparked the interest of talent booker Louis Diaz from Club Space Miami; where he played his debut set at the terrace during WMC 14’ and again in the summer of 2014 as the main act. As the year 2014 closed Caleb was presented with the amazing opportunity to tour with Loco Dice and become his supporting act in North and South America allowing him to be a part of Dice’s record breaking 24 hour set on New Years eve 2015. During his mercurial rise Calloway has also been able to find a balance between producing electronic music and continuing to be a heavyweight name in the latin hip-hop scene with billboard charted production and radio singles between Mexico and Puerto Rico demonstrating his resounding versatility.
2015 though has marked his biggest breakout playing for the first time in Ibiza making his debut at the heralded club Amnesia for the new mega party Hyte marking also their first year in Ibiza which seems somewhat perfect. His set earned mention in the Essential Ibiza’s review of Hyte and also became popular on the island for both of his podcast on David Moreno’s show on Ibiza Global Radio. He’s continued to tour with Loco Dice forming part of the Underground Sound Suicide tour Dice’s promo tour for his new album. Caleb will continue to tour well into 2016 meanwhile working on plenty of music now in his new home of Berlin.
The future for Caleb holds an endless evolution of his music and releases of diverse production ranging from Techno, House, to Hip Hop never resting on one particular sound.
