ELI BROWN

The history which built Bristol-based house project Eli Brown’s career demonstrates why his skillset has garnered such a reputation. Having played for over a decade behind the decks, as well as turning his hand at every genre across the dance music spectrum, he’s moved out of a well-known drum & bass pseudonym to offer up something completely different.

However, the producer is still creating the high energy, dancefloor sounds which made him so notorious throughout the 174bpm sector. Although this time, he’s no longer constrained to any boundaries and has slowed down the tempo. The ethos is still the same though; never compromising ingenuity for commercial viability and paying homage to his sonic roots.

Eli Brown made his debut in December last year with Can You Feel it / Acid Test released on Skream’s seminal Of Unsound Mind imprint, landing a follow up EP due later in 2017. With labels such as Steve Lawler’s Viva Music and Toolroom giving him a platform alongside, he’s gained support for his alias from every key player across the house scene and this list is only set to grow. It’s stand out records like Play Rough, alongside techno stalwarts Melody’s Enemy, which have proven why the momentum is only just beginning. Brown has also received airplay from the likes of tastemakers Annie Mac and Monki, who pushed his 4/4 sub-bouncer Acid Test, plus A-list DJ’s Groove Armada, Leftwing & Kody and Solorado on Rinse FM and they’ve further solidified his status, despite being a relative newcomer.

With more fresh cuts forthcoming this year, he’s looking to build on an already impressive set of releases. It won’t be long until he comes a defining part of the house music discography.

Nothing less than a rhythm junkie, this hopeless romantic’s productions most notably feature groovy Latin percussion sections accompanied by irresistibly funky basslines. With an ability to hear extremely precise rhythm, Dateless separates himself from countless artists with his ability to intentionally create imperfect grooves. These subtle imperfections create the illusion that his music is being played by live instrumentalists, an element that does not go unnoticed by devout fans and artists alike.

On stage he has an infectious energy that exudes passion and flair. His overly confident manner enables him to be in complete control of the crowd, comparable to that of a conductor guiding the musical performance of his orchestra. Ultimately his immense passion for music and extreme desire to be placed on the main stages of the biggest festivals results in timeless dance music that is sure to be heard around the world.
